Medication Management FAQ

  • Why does someone need ongoing medication management appointments?

Some mental health conditions change over time, so how you respond to medication may also change over time. Medication management is also essential for ensuring safe and proper use of all prescriptions.

  • How long do medication management appointments last?

After an initial assessment, diagnosis, and discussion with your doctor about your treatment plan, you can expect medication management appointments to last 20-30 minutes, sometimes less. The frequency of these appointments (and their duration) will fluctuate on a case-by-case basis.

  • Do I have to tell my psychiatrist about every medication I take?

Being as open and honest as you can is always a good rule of thumb when it comes to your health. Why? Because it provides clear insight into what may work best for you. Communicating all medications you take is especially important for medication management because it helps your doctor know which prescriptions will be safest and most effective.
